Hi I’m Rachel! A small batch potter & ceramics instructor located in Jacksonville, Florida. I am the artist behind Recess Ceramics and co-owner of the ClayGround in Neptune Beach, Florida. 10 years ago, I got a job at a pottery studio, took a beginner's wheel throwing class, and have been playing with clay ever since!

My style of work is inspired by my childhood; making the mundane of adulthood functional ceramics into interesting and playful works of art. Surface design on mid fire stoneware is my specialty and teaching the next generation of beginner potters is one of my

life’s biggest passions!

Recess Ceramics exists to find the perfect intersection - where clay meets play.

Each piece is created on the potter's wheel using several different types of mid-fire stoneware clay (Cone 5/6). These pots are thrown on the pottery wheel & hand painted with a thoughtful selection of both bright and seasonal colors. Some even have 24k gold luster accents! Lots of time and love go into each piece of art! I hope you enjoy!
